Eljos is a BV registered in Belgium (company number 1022.806.602, VAT BE 1022.806.602), with its registered office in Leuven. We are the controller of the personal data described below. You can reach us at hello@eljos.be.
This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It is short because we collect very little.
When you email us
If you email us, we receive whatever you choose to send: your name, your email address, and whatever you tell us about yourself or your company.
We use it to reply to you and, if the conversation goes somewhere, to discuss and carry out work together. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us, and — once we are actually working together — the performance of a contract.
Our email is hosted by Microsoft 365. We keep correspondence for as long as the conversation is live, and afterwards for 12 months in case it becomes relevant again. Threads relating to accepted work are kept for seven years, because Belgian law requires us to retain records connected to invoicing.
We do not add you to a mailing list. We do not send marketing.
When you visit this site
If you accept analytics cookies, we use PostHog to understand how the site is used: which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are located, what referred them, and which browser and device they use. PostHog assigns your browser a random identifier. We never learn your name from it, and we do not attempt to identify you.
The legal basis is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time via the settings button at the bottom of the page, without affecting anything that happened before you withdrew it. Withdrawing also deletes the PostHog cookies from your browser.
PostHog data is stored on EU infrastructure and retained for 12 months. We do not sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it to track you across other websites.
If you reject analytics cookies, none of this happens. The only things stored on your device are a record of that choice and, if you set one, your theme preference.
Cookies
| Cookie | Purpose | Set by | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
eljos_consent |
Remembers your choice on the cookie banner | Eljos | 12 months |
eljos_theme |
Remembers your light or dark mode choice | Eljos | 12 months |
ph_* |
Analytics — recognises a returning browser | PostHog | 12 months |
ph_*_window_id |
Analytics — groups activity within one visit | PostHog | End of session |
The theme cookie is only set if you pick light or dark in the site settings; choosing “system” removes it again. It stores nothing but that preference and needs no consent.
Who else sees your data
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical request data such as IP addresses in order to serve the site. Our email provider, Microsoft 365, processes the contents of correspondence. PostHog processes analytics data if you consented to it.
Each of these acts on our instructions under a data processing agreement. We do not share personal data with anyone else, and we never sell it.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or send it to you in a portable format. You can object to processing based on legitimate interest, and withdraw consent for analytics at any time.
Email hello@eljos.be and we will respond within a month. There is no charge.
If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority — Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit, Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels, contact@apd-gba.be.
Changes
If this page changes, we will update the date at the top. There is no version history, because the policy is short enough to read again.
